Slow down and savour a more sedate way of life or ramp up for an adventure! The choice is yours at Ecotone Cabins.
These two ecologically conscious cabins are situated within a coastal woodland in the Northwest Scottish Highlands. Ecotone Cabins are built with the environment in mind and to an entirely bespoke design. The timber is locally sourced, and similar care has been taken to use sustainable materials and renewable heating systems. Everything has been done to reduce any negative impact on the world we inhabit. And what a world this is! With stunning views across Loch Broom to the adjacent hillside. This is the perfect getaway for those looking to escape everyday life. Named after the neighbours, there are two cabins. Red Squirrel, which sleeps two in one bedroom, and Pine Marten which sleeps four in two bedrooms. This is a destination suited to both families and couples looking for peace and quiet – nevertheless, adventure is on the doorstep!
Each cabin is compactly, yet comfortably designed with an emphasis on the open living area. A feeling of space is created with simple and effective decor, while the natural materials emanate warmth and cosiness. Large windows bring the outside in and make the most of the view. While a fully equipped kitchen includes a washing machine – certainly handy for muddy togs at the end of a fun day out! On the subject of little ones, the space is easily adaptable for families. All the equipment you’ll need is available onsite. The living spaces have a television and a dining area. All bedrooms have a flexible configuration, either as a super king or twin beds. And each bedroom has an ensuite, and spacious walk-in showers. Fortunately for those who can’t bear to be off grid, Wi-Fi is included too.
The highlight of Ecotone Cabins is the peaceful elevated deck space. It’s even covered so you can get as close to nature as you can, come rain or shine. While away the hours on the outdoor dining set with your beverage of choice and a great read. Adventurers are well catered for too. With a large porch space to discard those muddy boots and wet clothes. And for keen mountain bikers, there’s even a dedicated wash station to rid your bike of the day’s grime.
This is undoubtedly a bolthole for exploring the great outdoors. The location is remote yet just 2.5 miles from the village of Ullapool for conveniences. Explore the mysteries of the Scottish landscape through the ages at Knockan Crag National Nature Reserve. Alternatively set out to sea with SeaScape Expeditions. For those who are feeling a little more adventurous, get paddling with Kayak Summer Isles. Or enjoy a guided walking tour on dry land with McKenzie Mountaineering. The village of Ullapool itself is compact yet well served, with a supermarket and convenience stores. Along with a museum, a leisure centre and a choice of pubs and restaurants. Ullapool is well noted for its music, so why not catch one of the regular music sessions held in the local pubs. You may even be lucky enough to experience an authentic ceilidh!
