Dimpsey Glamping

Dimpsey Glamping is managed by Emma

Minimum stay for this property is 2 nights.

About

In luscious English countryside overlooking the Blackdown Hills, Dimpsey Glamping aims for opulence while maintaining rustic simplicity. Each a glamping gem, the three humble shepherds’ huts have been lovingly created to form charming havens of luxury. This adults only retreat is serious about restoring your natural rhythms. There is no wifi, and your only task is to let go and enjoy ‘being’, free from distraction. Set on a small, tranquil  farm with a small herd of Dexter cows that roam on the grounds of Special Scientific Interest.

Dimpsey is an old English word meaning half-light or dusk. The magical time of evening when the blackbirds chatter and the firelight begins to flicker on the foliage around your hut. Each of the three huts has its own secluded spot, far from the stresses of everyday life. You have perfect privacy with only the stars to look over you while you soak in the heat of your outdoor hot tub or copper bath. This retreat is the place to nourish yourself in every way!

Inside

The effort and attention to detail at Dimpsey Glamping is visible in every inch of your experience. The huts are handcrafted nearby and fitted out to the highest standards. British designers and locally sourced materials have been chosen, down to the throws and bed linens. And details are altered to suit the season and delight regular customers. Hampers full of meats and treats grown within walking distance can be ordered. And your hosts are keen to help with any planning, decorating and catering for special occasions.

The original and smallest hut ‘Hither’ has a comfy fold down double bed, fitted kitchen and en-suite with flushing toilet. The larger two huts ‘Yonder’ and ‘Dapple’ are actually ‘braced’ double huts, the rear section being your lavishly decorated king-sized bedroom. ‘Yonder’ has a stargazing roof and copper bath at the foot of the bed. While ‘Dapple’ has an LED starlit ceiling and doors onto a terrace. The stargazing roof in this hut is over your dining table. Each hut has fairy lights, books and games, and a woodburner with a plentiful supply of logs. You may begin to fantasise about getting snowed in!

Outside

Beyond your idyllic hut steps, there is a cooking area with a wood fired outdoor pizza oven. The dough and toppings for your crispy yet gooey creations are available from the farm. Each hut has an outdoor dining area and firepit overlooking the countryside. ‘Dapple’ has an outdoor bath while ‘Hither’ and ‘Yonder’ have wood fired hot tubs. Soak under a blanket of stars while the fire crackles. Or hop in before breakfast to get some early sun and listen to the morning chorus in the trees around you.

Nearby

Dimpsey Glamping is just off the A303 in Somerset, close to the border with Devon. There are many fine pubs and restaurants nearby such as The Candlelight Inn, The Cotley Inn, F.east and River Cottage.  You can also book day courses at River Cottage in a variety of culinary skills from seashore foraging to baking and charcuterie. The coast is only half an hour from Dimpsey Glamping if you fancy a coast path walk before lunch or to fossil hunt at Lyme Regis or Monmouth Beach. Take in a show by the waters edge at the Marine Theatre. Or, visit one of the many grand and historic properties such as Monacute House or Forde Abbey. The beachfront Hive Cafe at Burton Bradstock is recommended for seafood or teas with a beautiful backdrop of coastal views. Or enjoy fresh fish and chips on the sheltered pebble beach at the pretty fishing village of Beer. The dramatic cliffs of the Jurassic Coast and elegant seaside towns of Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton are also within easy reach.
