About

Storybook style glamping exclusively for adults. Prepare to make some magical memories.

Nestled into a secluded spot in the Scottish countryside, yet just a short drive from Dunblane, is Craighead Howf. A collection of handcrafted, imaginative and extraordinary glamping accommodations so idyllic they could have been plucked from the pages of a fairytale. Completely unique, each with their own individual quirks you’ll be spoiled for choice!

If you love a treehouse, then Ash Tree Howf or the Swiss Family Robinson inspired Wee Tree Howf are ideal. For a more olde worlde experience you can’t get much better than the stone built Whisky Howf with it’s curved walls and sagging roof, a whisky lovers paradise where you can sit back and enjoy a dram beside the fire. Or perhaps you are searching for a little bit of country garden whimsy, Summer Howf is your perfect spot. For fans of The Hobbit, step into the Shire with the delightful Hobbit House Howf’s – Baggend and Burrow!

With each accommodation occupying its own secluded spot on this family farm, you’re assured of a restful break. Stay close by and explore the beautiful established gardens, woodland and lochan. If being surrounded by nature is what you’re looking for, you’re in luck – you are more than welcome to wander the farm and become well acquainted with their ever so friendly Pygmy goats, Highland cows, sheep and ponies. Not forgetting the alpacas, variety of poultry, peacocks and cats! Craighead Howf is well located to reach some of Scotland’s best loved attractions and whisky distilleries as well as major towns and cities.

Inside

Each of the accommodations at Craighead Howf are completely individual. The pale wood and stripped back simplicity of Ash Tree House, versus a more cottage-y feel at Wee Tree House. The Summer House is bright, white and all very pretty, and its alcove bed is picture perfect. Whisky Howf has a traditional rustic charm. While the Hobbit House Howfs come recommended with their grassy roof, feature stone walls, nooks and crannies. All accommodations come with indoor cooking facilities from either an oven or twin hob. You’ll either have your own fridge, ice box or access to a shared fridge/freezer. Each has access to their own shower facilities and compost loo. With some having an additional slipper bath for sumptuous bubble baths, with the exception of Summer Howf which has its own Wash Howf down a short walk of the garden. Come nightfall, you’ll gratefully sink into those gorgeous handcrafted beds. If you’re a fan of the night sky, make sure you choose a property with a dreamy star gazing window.

Outside

While you may be content to cook indoors, a true glamping experience means cooking al fresco. Each of the accommodations at Craighead Howf have a firepit and barbecue area. For views, Ash Tree Howf takes some beating. Its stunning viewing platform offers 360 degree views over the Ochil Hills. Enjoy the elevated view from between the trees across the Lochan at Wee Tree Howf or how about relaxing in the outdoor seating areas at The Round Houses. For the ultimate relaxation, choose a property with a private wood fired hot tub. On site there is a small honesty shop, the Wee Shop, where you can purchase fresh duck and rhea eggs plus other household items you may have forgotten to pack!

Nearby

Craighead Howf is situated just a twelve minute drive from Dunblane. This small yet attractive town is ripe for exploration. And with Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth and Dundee all reachable in an hour or less, you’re well served for urban pursuits. Head out on a distillery tour at Deanston Distillery just 9 miles up the road! For those who prefer to explore heritage, Doune Castle is around fifteen minutes away. TV fans may well recognise it as a filming location on both Games of Thrones and Outlander. Or Stirling Castle is twenty minutes away. Meanwhile fans of Braveheart will be keen to visit The National Wallace Monument, twenty minutes away.
