This is a little tiny bit of rough and a whole load of posh camping goodness!
Situated in England’s smallest county, Rutland, is A Little Bit of Rough. Four glorious canvas lodges sited within a private twenty-acre woodland. Perfect for couples and families who love to immerse themselves in nature, but who enjoy their creature comforts too!
With their nature inspired names, Ash, Birch, Oak and Willow, are designed to allow guests to enjoy the outdoors. Occupying elevated positions on stilts around the woodland, with Oak and Ash higher on the hilltop offering spectacular sunset views. Suitable for a maximum of six guests in a master king size bedroom, a twin and super cool bespoke cabin bed. All this, and A Little Bit of Rough are committed to minimising their impact on the environment. Wherever possible, they use green and renewable energies to heat and light the lodges. So, if a digital detox isn’t on the cards, you’ll find solar powered phone charging facilities in your lodge. This is in addition to the extensive recycling and innovative wastewater technologies on site. All meaning that you can enjoy your break guilt-free.
The interiors of the lodges of A Little Bit of Rough are quite simply, gorgeous. With an open plan living space to the front, housing your lounge, kitchen and dining space. Settle on the comfy sofa cuddled up with an excellent book and soft blanket. The kitchen space has a woodburning stove, which not only heats the space, but acts as the hob and oven too. Although, for emergency cups of tea, there is a small gas hob for quickly boiling the water! You also have a large fridge, with a small freezer section. Plus, storage, and a sink with hot water on demand. Bench dining for six should you need to eat indoors. And it is in this space you’ll also find the cute cabin bed. To the rear, you’ll find the two bedrooms, a king and a twin. As well as your ensuite bathroom. Coming with a slipper bath and shower mixer and washbasin. And you can access your private flushing loo via the bridge, just a few steps away from the lodge.
Each canvas lodge at A Little Bit of Rough has an amazing large elevated deck to the front. The glazed balustrade providing full visual access to those beautiful views at all times. Here you’ll find a dining table for six. As well as two reclining loungers for those lazy afternoon sessions. And while Oak, Ash and Willow each have their own private wood fired hot tubs as an optional extra. Meanwhile, Birch has an incredible private rear deck with two side by side slipper baths. Ideal for a romantic evening in. In addition to all this, all lodges have their own wood fired pizza oven, firepit area and hammocks.
A Little Bit of Rough is sited in a secret location in Rutland, just three miles away from the town of Uppingham. Rutland Water is the jewel in Rutland’s crown. A large lake which attracts keen walkers, cyclists and water sports enthusiasts. Kayak, canoe and paddle board or take on the Aquapark. If that all sounds a bit too active, you could hop aboard the Rutland Belle and take in the sights on the water. There are lots of historical sites in the area and within twenty minutes or less you could be at Oakham Castle, Rockingham Castle or Kirby Hall. And a smidge further afield is Burghley House. Famed as the location for the annual Burghley Horse Trials. It is also a lovely day out, with the house, gardens and brilliant adventure play for the kids to enjoy. Or perhaps you’d enjoy a potter around the county town of Oakham and indulge in lunch at one of its cafes or restaurants.
Families and couples who like the idea of camping – but don’t want to miss out on those all-important little luxuries.
