Indoors

Floors of red quarry tile and old oak beams give the Haybarn a rural, romantic feel. There is a warmth and solidity about the space, authentic cosiness and plush cushioning invite you to sink into a riveting read. A fully-equipped kitchen and dining area also ensures that you can simply stock up on supplies and hole up for the duration of your stay. Upstairs, there is a king-size bedroom and elegant en-suite with bath.

Outside

Positioned across a courtyard from the main farmhouse, The Haybarn enjoys close proximity to the shared indoor pool and the peaceful scenery of the surrounding farm fields. Choose from the beauty and spa treatments, shiatsu or massage on offer at an extra cost, then lounge in the wood fired hot tub. Take the children to visit the cows, or walk the dog to a local vineyard or cheesemaker to sample the local cheeses and wines.  With private parking and a small lawn to yourselves, you can embark on wonderful walks right from the doorstep.

Located in an idyllic spot in the carefree county of Somerset, The Haybarn sits on Pennard Hill Farm. A working sheep farm with unbeatable views of its scenic surroundings and the Mendip Hills. Where Alfred famously burnt the cakes he was supervising while in hiding in a peasants hovel. Somerset is rich with both history and geology. From the serene wetlands and moors to the awesome Wookey Hole Caves and Cheddar Gorge, there is no shortage of breath-taking landscape to explore.  Get to know the quirks of Glastonbury and its many myths, soak up the sublime sound of the boy choristers while gazing at the Medieval stained glass at Wells Cathedral. Or, escape to the coast for flavoursome fish and chips.

Perfectly placed for a day trip to Bath, where, if you haven’t had your fill of luxury, the views of the historic city from the steaming rooftop spa pool at Thermae Bath Spa are not to be missed. You could also explore the Cranborne Chase AONB (Area of Natural Beauty) or even head down into Dorset to discover the Jurassic Coast.

As far as nearby eateries go, the traditional market town of Shepton Mallet is bursting with flavoursome fare. The Natterjack, Blostin’s and Poachers Pocket all receive rave reviews. However, if you’re looking for somewhere within easy walking distance, The Red Lion in West Pennard is only an amble away along characterful country lanes. Serving a selection of gastro dishes and pub classics.

Also conveniently close by, the Avalon Vineyard produces organic wines and ciders, inviting keen sommeliers and occasional drinkers alike for tours and tastings.
