Ewe Glamping is managed by Claire.
Minimum stay for this property is 2 nights.
On the banks of The Grand Union Canal, just outside the pretty village of Braunston, Ewe Glamping is a top spot for enjoying the heart of England. The valley and high street are conservation areas, alive with history and wildlife; this is canal country. If you haven’t tried romantic breaks East Midlands style, you’re missing out!
The Oak Clad Shepherd’s Hut sleeps two, with doors opening onto a gorgeous country view. It is set back above the Grand Union Canal, with traditional narrow boats slowly chugging past. Braunston is a busy boating centre, ‘The Heart of the Waterways’, and the meeting place for four of England’s long distance footpaths.
If you need to get away from it all but don’t want to feel too remote, this is the place for you!
The hut is twenty feet long, with an en suite and kitchen with all the essentials. Underfloor heating and a wood burning stove make this a snug retreat for two at any time of year. The double bed is built in and dressed with the finest quality linens. Everything about this hut has been done to the highest standard and in traditional taste. In keeping with the era of the canals, wonderful cast iron and brass fittings are set off by the oak and white linens. There is an Edwardian shower and a flushing toilet, a microwave and hob, a fridge with freezer box. There’s a cosy two seat sofa and a TV, although with the view beyond your doors, who needs a screen!
Solid oak steps take you down to a seating area and fire pit. The sheltered spot beside your hut is the perfect place to crack open something fizzy to sip as night falls and flames flicker. Immerse yourself in the copper bath for two while subtle lighting allows you to enjoy the skies above. Your hosts’ love for the land they’ve farmed for generations is clear, and they want to share this with you. They live in the farmhouse, so they’re always on hand to help with special requirements.
Braunston itself, being a waterways hub, is awash with places to watch the gentle comings and goings on the canal. You look out from your hut over ‘Bottom Lock’ from where you can hire a narrowboat for the day. Or relax with a drink at the canal side Gozongler’s Rest cafe or Admiral Nelson pub. There are a selection of walks from your doorstep around Braunston, or take to the Jurassic Way path by bike or on foot.
Adrenaline junkies can get behind the wheel at Silverstone, only half an hour away. While country sports venues such as Draycote Water or Whilton Mill offer fishing, shooting, archery and carting. Those who love to delve into the past are surrounded by treasures, from abandoned Mediaeval villages, The Canal Museum, Warwick Castle, and Shakespeare’s Birthplace. If you’re out on the water or on the towpath, the wonders of our industrial ingenuity are all around. Apart from the grand gardens at Kenilworth Castle and Canons Ashby, Ryton Organic Gardens is a centre for teaching and has a world class seed library.
Friends or lovers of waterways charm looking for happy times by the canal side!
