About

Experience perfect peace in the tranquil Scottish countryside.

Idyllically situated in a rural haven, The Quarterdeck is a sanctuary from the stresses of everyday life. Located on the lower slopes of Ben Tianavaig amidst the village of Camustianavaig on the glorious Isle of Skye. Lovingly handcrafted, this cabin is a quirky tribute to all things nautical. See if you can spot all the reclaimed bits and pieces dotted around. Even the reading lights in the bedroom are reclaimed from an ocean liner. It’s an ideal getaway for couples to enjoy some quality time alone in a peaceful spot. And your dog is welcome to tag along too! The Quarterdeck is best suited to those who love being outdoors, and who cherish quiet time away. Whether you’re walking the moorlands, or scaling hills. Wild swimming or simply whiling away an afternoon with endless cups of tea and a good book. And while there is no tv, the excellent Wi-Fi service means you can stream on your devices to your heart’s content. Or get competitive as you play one of the games provided. The Quarterdeck offers all the luxuries you could need in a beautiful, unique space.

Inside

Delight in the carefully thought out extra touches which lift The Quarterdeck from ordinary to extraordinary. The open plan living area includes the hand crafted kitchen. Utilising whiskey barrels as cupboards, topped with French oak slab worktops and shelving. It’s wonderfully characterful yet cosy too, with the vintage twin seat sofa, and a wood burning stove. But it’s also convenient, and well equipped for self-catering. With a mini electric oven/air fryer, a double Halogen hob, coffee pod machine, kettle and toaster. And as an added bonus, a dishwasher plus a washer and dryer in the neighbouring utility room. This space also houses the full size fridge freezer and additional storage. After a long day out in the hills, you’ll be keen to luxuriate in the wet room. With underfloor heating, a glorious rainfall shower, and stunning Kasbah sink. And come nightfall, you’ll be ready to climb the wooden hill to bed. And this is no ordinary wooden hill. An oak staircase with rope whittled oak and chain balustrades, in keeping with the theme, leads to the bedroom. Claim a couple of soft blankets from the pirates treasure chest before diving into your super king size bed.

Outside

Parking is situated on the croft. The Quarterdeck has a small garden, ideal for hanging your washing on the line to dry. Or for evening drinks as the sun goes down. Heading back into the cabin, you’ll find a handy porch. Ideal for drying out your wet gear. And to ensure your boots are warm and dry for the next day, there’s even a boot dryer.

Nearby

The Quarterdeck is located just a ten minute drive from the harbour town of Portree. An important cultural hub for the Isle of Skye, this is where you’ll find The LAS, which houses the cinema and where theatre shows are put on. It’s here you’ll likely come if you’re bored of cooking and fancy a meal out. Explore the independent shops and the many cafes and restaurants on offer. Just a few minutes’ walk from your cabin is the stunning Tianavaig Bay. A stoney beach ideal for kayaking or if you’re feeling brave, wild swimming. It also has lovely views across to the Isle of Raasay, and if you’re lucky you may even spot a dolphin! And if gazing out at the Isle of Raasay isn’t quite enough? Simply take a twenty minute drive to Sconser and board the ferry to Raasay for a day out.
