Enjoy homely comforts in a peaceful, parkland location.
Situated on the glorious Netherby Estate in Northern Cumbria is Cleugh Foot. Part of the original estate, this once derelict and abandoned building has been lovingly renovated to an exceptionally high standard. With its peaceful location, the cottage enjoys wonderful views of the wider estate. Preside over the beautiful open parkland right across to the River Esk. And even though it’s private land, it’s all ripe for exploration! The perfect holiday cottage for families or mid-size groups of friends, Cleugh Foot sleeps six people across three bedrooms.
From the moment you enter Cleugh Foot, you’ll feel at home. Sympathetically renovated, the decor perfectly blends clean, modern lines with vintage accents throughout. Enjoy pottering about the stylish kitchen which has everything you’d need and expect from a self-catering cottage. There’s even a utility space with laundry facilities. When the cooking is all done, enjoy family dinners together at the conjoined dining area. Later, shut yourselves away from the day and huddle around the wood burning stove in the sitting room. Comfy sofas are perfectly positioned to maximise family time. Or if you fancy some quiet time, settle into one of the corner armchairs with a good book. Upstairs you’ll find three bedrooms. Two king-size bedrooms, one coming with an ensuite. Plus, a twin room, and a further two bathrooms.
Enjoy the tranquil location of Cleugh Foot. Although part of the Netherby Estate, the cottage has the benefit of its own private driveway. Approach your home away from home (and be sure to appreciate the pink exterior!) and marvel in the peace. The whole family will love the private garden and the extremely stylish California style pergola. The perfect location for al fresco dining or even a quiet cuppa as you watch over the gorgeous parkland views. It’s here you’ll find your private hot tub, allowing you to take day into night with the maximum of relaxation. And your firepit, essential for keeping your evenings warm and the marshmallows gooey.
Cleugh Foot is located just twenty minutes away from the cathedral city of Carlisle. To learn more about the city, start with a trip to Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery. And then immerse yourself in its history, with a visit to Carlisle Castle and Carlisle Cathedral. Meanwhile, for evening plans you may wish to enjoy a few of the array of eateries on offer in the city. Or check out what’s on at either The Old Fire Station or The Sands Centre. If you’re keen to get out of the city, head to Birdoswald Roman Fort (thirty-five minutes). It’s a fantastic place to access and learn more about the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hadrian’s Wall. Grab your hiking boots and have a day out in the Lake District, with Keswick being less than an hour away. Or see amazing scenery in comfort and board the Carlisle-Settle railway line to witness the beautiful countryside sights.
