A stunning cottage steeped in history, filled with character and sophisticated style. Arrive ready to relax with your loved ones, or experience something altogether unique.
Situated on a working farm in the glorious Eden Valley, surrounded by dramatic moorland. This Yorkshire Dales based property offers something a little different. Should you choose, experience real working life on a hill farm. Head out amongst the incredible panoramic views of the moors. Learn to lamb a sheep, train a sheep dog, blow dry a pedigree cow or even learn the craft of dry stone walling! Life on a farm is hard work, unpredictable and exciting and this experience aims to demonstrate all of that. Of course, you may just fall in love with The Cottage and want to just enjoy its many charms. And that’s fine too! Explore the local area to your heart’s content and return at the end of the day weary but very welcome in your cosy holiday home.
Once home to farm workers and even cattle, with a history dating back to the seventeenth century. The Cottage has been sympathetically renovated with its heritage in mind. Oozing style and class, featuring many original features. It has been restored by local craftsmen using locally sourced materials to a quality finish. Sleeping six guests across three double en suite bedrooms on the ground floor. You’ll also find a sofa bed in the ‘snug’ area upstairs for an additional two guests. Unusually, the living space is upstairs, allowing for the best of the elevated views. Open plan, with a high, vaulted ceiling this is the heart of the house. A stunning handcrafted kitchen and island unit form the foodie hub. A wonderfully enjoyable place to create a feast for the whole family! A dining table, living area complete with large, soft sofas to sink into plus a large television. A perfect place to gather as the flames flicker in the woodburning stove and the winds howl across the moors.
Aside from those views, outside you’ll find your own garden. Cook for the entire family on the BBQ grill and dine al fresco on the outside seating. Keep the chill away by lighting the fire pit – don’t forget to bring the marshmallows for a spot of toasting! And if you choose, there is also a wood-fired hot tub available to hire. With a huge expanse of moorland leading to dramatic twinkling skies. It’s the perfect place to brush up on your constellations.
Located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a stay at The Cottage is all about the outdoors! Reconnect with nature and explore the local area. Take a gentle stroll along the River Eden. Or for the more adventurous explorers, climb up Wild Boar Fell. Engage younger members of the group with the help of Tale Trails. Story based walks designed to encourage families to have fun as they walk. Visit the ancient market town of Kirkby Stephen. Sample the local tearooms, cafes and purchase souvenirs from the lovely gift shops. If you’re looking for family fun a little further afield, Walby Farm Park is an hour’s drive.
